PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis gave an interview focused mainly on Greece’s economy with Bloomberg’s Erik Schatzker at the Bloomberg Global Business Forum on September 25, 2019, in New York.
The Greek PM said his goal was to make Greece within the next three or four years the eurozone’s success story. He also reiterated the government’s priorities to push forward with reforms, reduce taxes, facilitate investments by both Greek and foreign companies, and handle banks’ NPLs. “We’ve made a good start, my government has a strong mandate and investor sentiment is moving in the right direction,” he said.
On the matter of Greece’s huge debts, Mr. Mitsotakis stressed that Greece plans to pay back the IMF loans as soon as possible while adding that Greece’s loans will be much more viable if the country achieves a high rate of development.
